Many times, I receive a call asking about booking a tarot party and people ask: what happens in a tarot reading? I thought this would be a good time to answer that question.
I believe I am looking at the Akashic record. The record of everything that has happened before this time. I look for information that may be relevant to you and your life. If you have asked me about a particular area of your life, like career or love, I will look there first.
I do not do this just by looking, I lay out a tarot spread. My favorite spread is the Horoscope. A circle of twelve cards with labels on each one that match an Astrology Horoscope. Since I do not read Astrology, I sometimes do not understand the match-ups. Why is the 8th house debts, legacies, and other people’s money AND transformation? Why is the 5th house service, health, co-workers, and work?
I like to say that my readings are insightful, positive, and fun. I look for good news for my client, and possible ways them to deal with the difficulties they are facing. As long as we are alive, there are solutions to our problems. Sometimes it will take a lot of work to get to the answer, but if we are willing to face reality as it is, we can see changes we can make to make our lives better.
I can usually see quickly where the weak spots are. If the 4th house of the Home is a difficult card like the Devil (indicating tension) or 9 of swords (indicating worries), that is probably where they have problems. A positive card in a place like the 4th house will indicate happiness is there: 9 of pentacles, for instance will say that the person is very happy in their home and very independent. I let the card itself tell me what the issue is.
I have not memorized the cards and what they mean, I look for what the picture suggests to me now—while I am reading that card. That tells me what is going on with the person I am reading.
If I uncover an issue, I may lay out additional cards to look for a solution. All I can do is suggest solutions, I cannot fix something. But if I make the seeker look at a new perspective on their problem, perhaps they can change their life a bit and make it better.
A good reading leaves the client feeling more hopeful than they were, amazed and excited about their future. I try to make each reading memorable.
